About

David Karpinski is an independent producer and general manager focused on developing new commercial theatre with ambition, strategy, longevity, and a passion that resonates with the audience.

Karpinski was born in North Jersey, close enough to New York City that theatre was never something distant or abstract. From an early age, he was surrounded by productions that treated the stage as a place of possibility; where scale, motion, sound, and design worked together to create something immersive and larger than life. Those early experiences set a high bar for the kind of work Karpinski is drawn to: ambitious, expansive, and unafraid to push the limits of what can be staged. What began as an attraction to spectacle soon grew into a fascination with how an audience experiences a performance as a whole. He studied Arts Entrepreneurship and Leadership from The University of Michigan and has worked with organizations such as The Metropolitan Opera and Jean Doumanian Productions, where large-scale vision is supported by precision, strategy, discipline, and collaboration.

“Every project I choose to produce begins with the same question: what will the audience feel when they leave the theatre? That question isn’t a talking point for me—it’s the deciding factor. I’m drawn to work that doesn’t just function well onstage, but actively reshapes the audience’s experience of what a night at the theatre can be, aiming to surprise, engage, and resonate in ways that feel singular rather than familiar.”
